Important Nomination Information

  • Please be sure to select ‘Pittsburgh/Steel City Local Chapter’ when submitting your nomination. The Steel City local chapter winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony and Holiday Party on December 15th.

  • Nominees will be asked by HDI Steel City to complete a short phone interview to demonstrate their service excellence. Nominees will be contacted by a Steel City Officer after their nomination form is submitted. Failure of nominee to complete the interview by the deadline will result in receiving zero points in that category.

  • All nominees will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of industry standards, technical aptitude, dedication and commitment to excellence in customer service, while consistently exceeding performance objectives. Nominees must also demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills that can be leveraged by others.

  • At least one person from the company where this nominee works must be a member of HDI.

  • For each award, there is a limit of two nominees per company, per award, and all nominations must be approved by the department manager.

Analyst of the Year Nominee Requirements

This award is intended for the support industry’s top front-line, first-level support analysts who possess the knowledge and skills required to provide quality service and support for internal or external customers.   • The nominee must currently be working as a tier 1 support analyst with at least 75% of their daily tasks related directly to direct customer tier 1 support.

  • The nominee must have been working as a tier 1 support analyst for at least 9 of the previous 12 months.

  • This award is not for supervisors as it is focused on the person delivering the services.

  • Any previous year Global winner in this competition is not eligible for subsequent nomination.

Desktop Support Technician of the Year Nominee Requirements

This award is intended for the support professional who responds to incidents escalated by the service desk that are related to customer equipment; additional skills, knowledge, tools, or authority are required. They may resolve the incidents remotely, desk side, or via equipment returns.   • The nominee must currently be working as a desktop support technician and spend over 50% of the working day providing technical support via one or more of the following contact methods: Phone, web-requests, email, chat and provide assisted service either remotely or at the client’s device. This includes desk side support, walk-up support, and mail-in equipment. They are the “face of support” as they generally provide face-to-face dealings with clients and customers.

  • The nominee must have been working as a technician for at least 6 of the previous 12 months.

  • The nominee must provide actual desk side support. This award is not for supervisors or team leads, as it is focused on the person delivering the services.

Those that are nominated at the local chapter level will be judged with the other nominees from their chapter for these prestigious awards. The winner from each individual chapter will have an opportunity to compete with their peers regionally, handled by the HDI Regional Director. Each regional winner will be given the opportunity to represent their respective region at the HDI Annual Conference for the national level of judging.
